The PIM Features at a Glance
Collect: Flexibly collect your various digital product data from different locations and manage them in this central PIM system. The onboarding process for suppliers and data providers is particularly smooth. In future, you will not only be collecting internal data, but you can also hook up external data sources to Akeneo. For this, users may use the Akeneo Supplier Data Manager, for example.
Optimise: Analyse and monitor your product data in Akeneo via Data Quality Insights and enrich them with additional information. A professional set of rules lets you determine and monitor the quality of content. Publish specific product information to an output channel – for instance, if the data quality meets your predetermined criteria. This improves the quality of information density. At the same time, you ensure consistent product descriptions across multiple channels.
Distribute: Once our product data has been finalised, publish it to the various channels: online shops, websites, catalogues, mobile applications, stores and more. You can be sure that product data are standardised and correct.
Asset Management Features: Manage media assets such as images, documents and videos along with product information. Store them in the formats and sizes the various channels require. You will have all common media formats and cropped versions available for immediate use.
Artificial intelligence/AI: The attribute mapping feature is an addition from the new field of machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI). Automated product attributes for product catalogues as well as manual additions to them will most likely play an essential role in the future.

Update 2024
AI-enhanced enrichment:Harness the skills of ChatGPT to get support for the translation and generation of product information. The AI-based solution integrates seamlessly into the product edit forms of Akeneo PIM.
Enrichment workflows:The integrated workflows take employees by the hand and guide them through the enrichment process. This helps companies avoid bottlenecks in the respective process and take an active role in promoting content enrichment. By configuring the workflows based on user needs, managers offer their employees native and user-friendly work processes, orchestrating their teams efficiently.
Enrichment workflow – team dashboard: The team dashboard equips managers with a well-structured overview of the PIM-related workflows, including information on workflow progress and assigned users.
Email notifications: Workflow notifications are a valuable addition to the enrichment workflows. This feature ensures that users receive timely email notifications, keeping them well-informed and enabling them to focus or prepare for assigned tasks in the enrichment workflow.
Business analytics: In the future, you can rely on operational market metrics and KPIs, straight from the Akeneo Product Cloud. Track how individual products and product ranges perform in different markets and sales channels – draw conclusions from the KPIs and enrich product data when needed.
Update 2023
Akeneo App Store:In version 7.0, the dedicated PIM system app store has been expanded and the connectivity has been increased. Tested applications and their features enhance the existing technology stack and can be integrated with just a few clicks in the Akeneo Product Cloud. Installed apps are easily accessible and can be managed or configured by you after installation.
Tailored Imports:When the structure of data to be imported does not match the existing Akeneo PIM structure, the Tailored Imports app will help. It enables you to attribute product data to Akeneo attributes, transform them and import them into the PIM system.
Catalogs for App:Catalogs for App lets you configure which products are available in which app, based on various criteria and filter settings.
Automate SFTP Imports and Exports: Link your product data with external data stores. This allows you to safely back up your data from and to the Akeneo Product Cloud. This process can also be automated based on a pre-defined schedule. And the SFT protocol guarantees that authentication and transmitted data are encrypted for secure file transfer.
SAP Commerce Cloud
Akeneo has been an SAP partner since 2023. This partnership enables you to integrate the existing Akeneo PIM into the SAP systems landscape or the SAP Commerce Cloud. Advantage: Akeneo PIM is based on the SAP Business Technology Platform. This ensures seamless integration into the SAP Commerce ecosystem.
